Too Old for Passion

The Passion band are coming to Cape Town in August. Yup, Chris Tomlin and David Crowder are going to be here, but I’m too old to attend! The Facebook group says its only for people between 18 and 25! What the…? How does that work?

I’m not surprised to hear about something like that with Tomlin’s name attached to it. I don’t say this to slander his reputation (this is public knowledge), but we could not get him to come to Biola and play for chapel because we couldn’t afford him ($10,000).

Yeah Stephen…its called marketing! As much as I like Passion’s stuff, they have a target “market”, and if you don’t fit it (or can afford it), then you’ll just have to settle for good ‘ol indigenous worship (which – isn’t that the point anyway?)…

Sorry…I don’t comment for a while and then all of a sudden I just ooze out sarcasm. If I need to repent, you can tell me so.

Ha, Brian’s going … because he’s involved in student ministry. Didn’t I tell you to join The Message church plant?

    from the website
    Vision

PASSION CAPE TOWN is a gathering for UNIVERSITY-AGED young people throughout South Africa. Believing in the university moment, and what God longs to do in this strategic window of time, the entire event will focus on the bigness of God, calling students to PRAYER, WORSHIP and ACTION, and a Story so much bigger than their own.

The heartbeat of PASSION CAPE TOWN is to:

    ENCOURAGE the CHURCH

Foster UNITY among those who love JESUS

Spark VISION for the UNIVERSITIES of Cape Town and the nation

Tell the STORY of REDEMPTION in compelling ways

INSPIRE students to EMBRACE their part in God’s global plan for the NATIONS

    —–
I think it’s great that they are doing what God has called them specifically to do.
and at R50 it is really pretty cheap.

    …and EXCLUDE OLD PEOPLE!

Just kidding. I know what they’re aiming for and it is admirable and we should be praying that God will use it for his glory here in Cape Town. I’m just bummed that I can’t go listen to David Crowder, that’s all:(
